99 Things about me.

  1. This blog used to be called Light Sweet Crude. Before that it was Wine Makes Mummy Clever. And before that? Blogasmic.

  7. My littlest sister, Jill, is my favourite. You’re probably not supposed to have favourites but there you go.

  16. I have a really bad habit of setting lofty goals for myself.
  17. Fortunately my husband finds this endearing.

  47. I love playing Scrabble but if I don’t get very good letters I really suck at it.

I just found your website via Tasty Kitchen…and love it. You write so well. I too have driven from Canberra to Sydney just for Ikea (and we used to get there in time for the cheap big breakfast!)

  2. Trish says:

Thanks Bindi! Nice to meet you and thanks for stopping by. Last time I went to Ikea I picked up a copy of the catalog and now I flick through it whenever I need a pick-me-up. I’m easily picked up :-)

    HI Trish,
I have been visiting your website for a couple of months now and thoroughly enjoy reading your blogs. I moved to Canberra with my family from Melbourne just last week and leading up to this monumentous event, I read your blogs to keep me sane. I love your stories and sense of humour. And I especially love the photography of your food, except it does nothing to help my comfort eating.

  4. trish says:

Nice to meet you Sharls! I didn’t see your comment immediately, it slipped under my radar somehow. I hope you’re enjoying living in Canberra. Thanks for visiting and for the lovely feedback – much appreciated.

    Hi Trish,
I just found your blog through magpie days, my friend’s blog. I am an Australian, living in Switzerland and your blog struck nice familiar chords for me. Thank you, am adding you to my list. I’m a Queenslander, Ipswich actually. Go the Reds.
    Sandra

Lovely to meet you Sandra! Thanks for visiting. Other people’s blogrolls are a great way to find new blogs. I get lots of visitors who have found me the same way you did. I used to publish my blogroll as a link that you had to click through to, but I think it’s better to have the list right there in the sidebar. I just have to try to keep the list updated… and under about 50 links! More than that and I can’t keep up.

  7. Rox says:

Hi Trish! I was wondering how your tasty kitchen cooking fest was going. Love your blog… especially your “about me” section. It’s kind of funny to think that you can be electronic pen pals with someone on the other side of the globe huh?

  8. trish says:

I’ve been printing out some recipes and will make a few of them in the coming weeks. Thanks for checking up on me!

  9. lauren says:

    Hi Trish,
    found you through Tasty Kitchen.
I too drink too much wine, started going grey in my 20’s, live in Canberra, (and have for most of my life), enjoyed ‘Eat, Pray, Love’, and adore ‘When Harry Met Sally’. I too drink G&T’s, Millers is my favoutite. Have you tried Hendricks with cucumber instead of lemon/lime? I talk really loudly in restaurants with my family, and friends sometimes, but I don’t wear heels very often (already 6′1″)…..
I am a photographer (more your fine arty type) and am starting to shoot food and as such am starting to think more creatively (read visually) about the things I want to cook and eat. If it aint pretty, I won’t cook it!! ;-)
Nice to see some other locals around the foody/photography internet place! :-)

  10. trish says:

Hi Lauren, nice to meet you! Will now go and check out your website… and perhaps try that cucumber thing – intriguing!

  11. pub says:

Pioneer Woman, Republicans and you’re stereotyping — maybe you should just mind your own Aussie business.

(From Trish – I’m not sure what this comment is trying to say, but I thought I’d hit “approve” rather than “delete” because, folks, this is the first bit of negative commentary I’ve attracted to my blog in about five years and I’m a little bit excited. I just wish they’d used a few exclamation points, or the f-word, or something. I mean, I’ve waited so long!)

  12. Kathy says:

Funny that someone would “suggest” you mind your own business when they are here reading YOUR personal blog.

  13. Rachael says:

    Hi Trish,

I am pleased to see that you are still blogging. It has been a long time since HKH so let me know if you ever want to make time for a coffee.

  14. trish says:

I’d love to! Send me an email – email (at) eatshootblog (dot) com.

  15. PJ says:

@pub – why is censorship the first resort for dickheads like you? Did it occur to you that Trish taking an interest in American politics IS minding her “Aussie business”? You almost certainly have never reflected on it, because I suspect you’re one of those drive-by knee-jerk commenting cowards who never comes back again, but shall we discuss the number of ways in which the US influences the economic, political, and security environment in Australia? You also apparently don’t see the irony in visiting the personal blog of an Australian woman, and telling them to mind their own business, you dead-set WANKER. On the other hand, if you genuinely want to engage in a debate on what it is you don’t like about Trish’s views on anything, then bring that shit on. I’m ready, but I suspect we’ll never hear from you again, you ignorant berk.

  16. Hi Trish, Found you through Tasty Kitchen (you taught me how to cook bacon in the oven. wu hu!) and will definitely follow your blog. I have to say that I just love how Aussie’s pull out all the stops in expressing opinions. I love that you met Strom Thurman, took the time to read about him afterwards, drink gin and tonics (yes, Hendricks gin is awesome) and wear heels so you can be taller. I wear heels so I can aspire to scrape 5′ 5″ (I’m 5′ 3″ in my bare feet). Count me in as a follower!

  17. trish says:

LOVELY to meet you Amy B! Your website sounds intriguing… The Jewish Girls Guide To Pork. I’ll be over there in a jiffy.

  18. Tracey says:

LOL @PJ – you tell ‘em!

  19. Narrelle says:

LOVE your blog!! Love your list too – might just have to do one of those myself. Though it would be nowhere near as interesting or entertaining.

  20. bells says:

oh wow. So I’ve been getting up to speed with your three blogs this morning and then found this list.
I’m 38. Cancerian. 70% grey. Scared of big dogs. Started wearing glasses in 1994. How very strange! There are others but those were the first similarities I picked out.
